At a glance
We set no cookies that follow you around the internet. There are no advertising cookies on this site, we do not share data with ad networks, and we do not build a profile of you.
We count visits two ways. A basic count that uses no cookies at all, and an optional, more detailed one that runs only after you say yes to it. Saying no costs you nothing and we will not ask again for six months.
What we use
Strictly necessary, always on
These are needed for the site to work as you asked it to, and the law does not require consent for them.
| Name | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| Security check | Confirms the invitation form is being filled in by a person rather than an automated script. Runs only on the page with the form. | End of your visit |
| Your cookie choice | Remembers whether you said yes or no to analytics, so we do not ask you again. Only set after you make a choice. | 6 months |
We also keep a small note of your choice, with the date you made it, in your browser's own storage. That is our record that we asked and what you answered.
Analytics, only if you say yes
If you accept on our banner, we use Google Analytics to see which pages help people and where they lose interest. Its cookies recognise a return visit from the same browser and nothing else. They do not identify you personally, they last up to two years, and if you decline they are never set at all.
How we count visitors
We also keep a simple overall count of visits that uses no cookies at all. Nothing is saved to your device and nothing identifies you.
What we do not use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No social media tracking pixels.
- No sharing of your browsing with data brokers or ad networks.
- No cookies on the invitation form itself.
The banner and your choice
We do not interrupt you the moment you arrive. The banner appears once you start reading, and until you answer it, no analytics runs. Not quietly in the background, not at all.
No is exactly as easy to press as yes, and whichever you choose we will not ask again for six months. You can change your mind at any time using the Manage cookie choices link in the footer.
Turning them off in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a site directly. It is usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking cookies from autoswitch.ie will not stop you using the site or requesting an invitation.
If you use a tracker blocker, an ad blocker, or a browser like Firefox or Safari with tracking protection switched on, that will already be blocking our analytics. We are not going to try to work around that.
